Rheingau-Musik-Festival in Oestrich Winkel
Die Grundanlage des Gebäudekomplexes stammt aus der Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts mit Ergänzungsbau-ten aus dem 19. Jahrhundert, Teile der Bausubstanz deuten auf einen älteren Bau an gleicher Stelle hin.
Das Weingut Eser war ein kompett ausgestatteter Weinbaubetrieb. Das Hauptgebäude beinhaltete Wohn-räume, Büro und Verkaufsraum; dieses wurde als Ganzes zum Verwaltungsbereich des Rheingau Musik Festivals umgestaltet.
Der ehemalige Abfüll- und Etikettierraum wurde zum Saal für Konferenzen und Empfänge, die ehemalige Kelterhalle zum Veranstaltungsraum ausgebaut. Der Weinkeller ist nun Probierraum für Weinproben.
Sowohl Innenhof als auch Garten wurden in die Veranstaltungsbereiche mit einbezogen, der für den Rhein-gau typische ländliche Charakter ist dabei weitestgehend erhalten geblieben.
Die behutsame und stilgerechte Sanierung der kompletten Fassade erfolgte in enger Abstimmung mit dem Landesamt für Denkmalpflege, dabei wurde besonders auf originalgetreue Ergänzung des Fach-werks und Verwendung historischer Baumaterialien (z.B. Holz und Lehm) Wert gelegt.
Der Umgang mit originalen, erhaltenswerten Strukturen hatte bei der Sanierung höchste Priorität, es wurden jedoch nicht mehr Vorhandenes, nur annähernd Nachvollziehbares und neue Notwendigkeiten mit den Mitteln der heutigen Zeit ergänzt. Das Verbinden von Alt und Neu, ohne daß das eine von dem anderen überformt wird, sollte das harmonische Einfügen des Gebäudes in die gewachsenen Kulturlandschaft des Rheingaus gewährleisten und trotzdem den technischen und auch den stilistischen Anforderungen des ausgehenden 20. Jahrhunderts Rede und Antwort stehen.

Rheingau Music Festival in Oestrich Winkel - 1998
The foundation of this building complex stems from the middle of the 18th century with supplementary buildings from the 19th century. Parts of the structure point to the former building that could be found on that same spot.
The Eser vineyard was a completely fitted winery. The main building consists of living quarters, office and sales rooms; this was redesigned as the administration wing of the Rheingau Music Festival.
The former bottling and labeling room was rebuilt as the conference and reception hall, and the former wine press hall was made into the event room. The wine cellar is now a tasting room for wine tastings.
The courtyard as well as the garden were integrated into event areas, the rural character typical for the Rheingau remaining largely intact to this day.
The reconstruction of the complete facade was carefully done in the correct style following a close vote by the state office of historical monuments, thereby placing value on keeping the addition of timber framing and its usage true to the historical building materials (wood and clay). The dealing with structures that are original and worth preserving was the highest priority during the reconstruction. Nothing else was available for use, just the conceivable and new necessities mixed with today's resources. Connecting old and new, without having the one reshaped by the other, was said to ensure the harmonious insertion of the building into the growing Rheingau's cultural landscape and nevertheless justify the technical and stylistic demands of the late 20th century.
